Character Development

Young girl:

Starts off in wardrobe after hearing Parents argument- scared, nervous, small, vulnerable.
In the dream world- Happy, excited, lively, smiling, inquisitive.

Costume:
At home- Jeans, t-shirt, jumper, hair down, a little makeup

Dream world- White dress, hair down- clipped up on one side, subtle makeup- Mascara, blusher, nude lip gloss

(These aren't the exact clothes that Rosie will be wearing, however, they give a rough idea of what she will look like in the film.)

Given advice by her older self that she needs to stop coming to this dream world and using it as an escape. She needs to face her problems and stand up to them, instead of running away from them and never seeing to them. After this advice, the young girl goes home and the final shot is her opening her eyes from the dream world, smiling and coming out of the wardrobe to face her problems with her family.

Older Self:

Comes to the woods and talks to her younger self. Dressed and looks the same to show they are the same person, just a couple of years older.

Costume:
Dream world- White dress, hair down- clipped up on one side, subtle makeup- Mascara, blusher, light pink lip gloss.

Advises her younger self to stop coming to the dream world as an escape from reality and her problems. Tells her that it won't help her the more and more she goes there and that as she becomes older, the more she has to face her problems.

 Makeup:

Minimal eye makeup, to make Rosie look her age or a tiny bit younger and to define her eyes when filming:

My makeup will look like this too, so that we look similar, that my eyes are defined and so that I too, don't look too old for my age.

Nude lip gloss, to again define her lips, but to make it look natural so that she doesn't look too much older:

I will wear nude lip gloss too, to again, try and make it more obvious to the audience that we are playing the same character. (If we are wearing the same makeup, this will hopefully make the audience realise that I am her older self.)

Subtle blusher, just to add some colour to her cheeks:

I will wear blusher too so that I have colour on my cheeks and so that it completes our 'look' of being the same person.

Similar characters from films:

Pans Labyrinth-

Alice in Wonderland (However, we are not going for the fantastical feel, we want the woods to be natural and real-life like.) -

  1. As a post, very two dimensional.
They need to be more multi media - hyper links, images, embed video.
Post moving image of similar characters in films or drama s that you are aware of.
    Low level two
